This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This year, I will be teaching Middle School Cross Categorical Special Education. Most of my students either have a learning disability or autism. They come from low income or single parent households. In addition, four percent of students in my school are ESOL, and we are projected to increase enrollment by one hundred students this year.
In our school of four hundred and fifty students, they speak a total of seventeen, different languages.
They also come from a variety of different backgrounds. Students come from all over the city to attend our school. Our school is a midwest, urban middle school where one hundred percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Thank you for supporting students with a great need.
My Project
These materials will brighten my students learning experiences by providing them with colored paper, highlighters and markers to make learning more fun and engaging. The colored paper will be used to make eye catching anchor charts and interactive notebook materials in the classroom. In addition, we focus a lot of instruction on reading so I want my students to be able to use their highlighters to annotate their text to find vocabulary and key ideas and details of a text. We will use our dry erase markers to make math more engaging with interactive whiteboard practice. Students can write a problem and solve the problem in a different color. The more tools I provide my students to make learning experiences brighter the more engaged and excited my students will be in their learning.
