"...if we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow..." ~John Dewey. I teach Lifeskills for 2nd grade and 3rd grade which is a classroom for students with a range of disabilities. I also work closely with the Life Skills classroom next door who has 10 students from kindergarten to 2nd grade. I have 11 students in my classroom who range in their abilities in the areas of math, reading, and writing.
It is my passion to help my students reach their goals and be successful in school.
Any extra help I, as the teacher, can give them in the classroom is crucial to having them succeed, not only in my classroom, but in their entire school career.
My students stay with me for three years and then will move on to middle schools. My students are wonderful kids who love to learn, and just do it differently. Albert Einstein once said, “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” I want to empower my students and show them how smart they are!
We desperately need a new classroom rug for our iPad Center! We are re-doing our iPad Center with more flex seating. My students love to lay and sit on the rug with their iPads but they have no place to lay right now.
I am creating a new space in my classroom just for iPads where my students can sit in comfy seats or on the rug and use the iPads.
There will be a low table where they can place their iPads if they choose to sit at the table. A new rug will brighten up the space and really entice my students to go to the iPad center and learn. We use our iPads a lot throughout our day and with a new rug my students will enjoy going to the center! The donations for this project will improve my classroom by reducing the amount of behavioral issues. With less behavioral issues, we can increase our learning and time on task.
