Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a very diverse class of third graders this year. Unfortunately, the majority of my students lack the experiences necessary to become lifelong learners due to limited resources. We are a Title I school with free meals for all students. Most of our student population derives from non-English speaking families. The students I serve are predominantly of Hispanic ethnicity and from a low socioeconomic background.
Regardless of their socioeconomic background, my students continue to want to learn!
My classroom is composed of students of different needs and different backgrounds as well as students with different emotional needs. Despite their differences, they come to school eager to learn every day. With your help and collaboration, I would like to give them a better opportunity by providing a healthy and positive learning environment that is equipped with the resources to help them succeed.
My Project
We are in need of supplies that we can use all year. We need color paper and cardstock that we will use for different activities and centers. I will use this paper to create hands-on activities for Math. The paper will also be used for different projects that we have throughout the year. The dry erase markers and erasers will also be used for centers, small-group, and one on one intervention. The thin markers are a better alternative to markers as the fine point makes it easier for the students to write on the whiteboards. The laminating pouches will be used to laminate important resources to help ensure that they last all year long. I will laminate tools such as multiplication charts and desktop helpers, as well as activities.
