Bridging the Learning Divide

My Students

As a teacher working in a high poverty, bilingual school, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, my students still work hard and try their best every day. They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, interpreters, and questioners. Many of them are being raised in single-parent households or have parents with limited English ability, and 99 percent of students receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status.

My students are budding mathematicians, scientist, artists, architects, teachers, doctors, interpreters, etc... Sometimes they need a smaller setting to be successful.

This allows them to get individual attention and get the best support for their learning style.

My Project

These iPads would allow my students the ability to work on specific skills that are tailored for them, when they are not working in group with me. It will support students' learning in reading, math and spelling. These iPads will help students improve in their academics as well as give them motivation to work. The population of students I work with struggle with academics, and so they need motivation sometimes to push through, when the work feels hard. I plan on linking reward time on iPads if they are able to persevere on work that feels challenging. These iPads will be a great help to my students learning and I am excited to give them the ability to use technology in the classroom to help boost motivation and knowledge.
