This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My class consists of 20 high energy scholars. I believe that all students can learn at grade level -they may just have to find alternative routes. My school advocates for each student to be a leader and to be successful. My students will defy the norms and break the barriers of being labeled by society. My students face adversity daily in their lives but the one thing they can count on is consistency and normalcy in their education. They have shown time after time they are resilient and eager to learn and will/ have overcome many barriers.
My Project
One of the biggest barriers my students with disabilities face during virtual learning is not having the supplementary aids they would have if we were in school. The math manipulatives will assist with this. A math lesson in adding subtraction or multiplication would be much easier to solve if they had these materials. The whiteboards is another aid for them for writing and phonics dictation. They would be able to write the word and correct any mistake if necessary. My students are visual and hands-on learners. The guided reading books would allow my students to have their own copies of the book to practice at home to enhance their reading skills. Again these are the same materials they would have if we were in a normal classroom setting.
