My Project

My students and teachers will pair these children's books with classic works of literature so students can use an accessible text to practice skills (identifying figurative language, understanding an infallible narrator, and perspective) before jumping into a complex text -- we crawl before we run!

Children's books are a great way to introduce works of classic literature!

Pairing Klassen's Give Me Back My Hat with Les Miserables to teach the theme makes a complex text approachable!

These books are a medium in which core emotions and social norms are expressed in approachable ways.
