My students live in a low-income urban area where many of them have absolutely no access/limited access to internet or technology. Therefore they are unable to extend their learning at home. Therefore they must spend as much as possible during the day using technology to help increase their learning in Math. This school year I no longer have an interactive whiteboard and only have one working computer. In order to increase student achievement in my classroom, I need more than one computer. I can ensure that students are able to work in smaller groups and differentiate their learning to meet their individual needs.
Many of my students do not have access to a computer at home. By having more computers in my classroom, I can provide students with the opportunity to practice what they have learned through different websites such as TenMarks, Multiplication.com, and IXL.com. My students came to 4th grade with a variety of skill levels. The computers would allow me to differentiate activities so that all students are being met at their individual level. During small group time, students will be able to use the computer to practice skills, watch tutorial videos, and work cooperatively with other students while playing a fun and engaging math game.
