Help me give my students an added tool that can help them learn more while giving their parents the tools they need to be able to help their kids with our ever-changing curriculum.

At our school, we strive at helping our students learn ELAR, math, science, social studies, and their other subjects in a multitude of ways. My students take great pride in wanting to put out their best work. With access to the few resources that we do have, my students take advantage of every bit of learning material that we provide as a school. They try to stay as engaged as possible, and they just want to do their best. My students do have a bit of a disadvantage in this area. Most of our students are below the poverty line. It’s a challenge to even get some of our kids to get a proper rest or to eat properly. We, as teachers, do what we can. The neighborhood is all that our students know because most can’t even afford to take family trips. Even with all of that, our students still manage to try their best and to make us proud. Within what they’re capable of.
I work in a Title I school, where most of our kids are below the poverty level. We also have a lot of students who experience different traumas on a day to day basis. Needless to say, that affects their will and even ability to learn the material the teachers are teaching. Also, getting many of the parents more involved in the education and livelihood of their child is a bit difficult as well.
I’ve found that while many parents are busy with work and other responsibilities, a great deal of them actually want to be more engaged with helping their children.
They just don’t know how to be. These tools will help bridge that gap, and allow us to give the students the ‘parental’ involvement that they so desperately need at this very important time in their lives. Help me in providing that tool for them, and allow us to be more cohesive as a team.
