Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I love my student; they are a reflection of me. I can relate to them and their home environment. This was my neighborhood and the elementary school that I attended. I now get the honor of teaching and giving back to my alma mater and community.
When I look at them, I think about the lack of resources and challenges I faced growing up, and I want to give them the tools and support I wished I had.
My students come from a high poverty area in Fresno. They don't have many learning tools at home and I would like to be that bridge for them where they can take educational resources home.
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my students' learning at school and home. My 4 and 5 year old students need hands-on learning resources that most parents cannot afford. My lessons are all hands on math manipulatives, books, and science tools. The best way to increase learning is to have manipulatives and books at home. My students already have shown an astonishing growth in their learning, and this project will only help enrich their experiences at home. My project will allow for parents to have hands-on resources they can borrow and practice at home. Parents will be able to use the same exact resources we practiced in the classroom and reinforce it at home. Students will apply their learning outside of school. This project will be the bridge from our classroom to their home learning.
