I need to attend the Pathfinders Summer Institute to learn how to incorporate Computer Science into Science.

Defining problems, using creativity, applying research, building prototypes, and developing solutions are just some of the skills that students use when they are in my STEM classroom. Through the design process, my students are learning skills that will enable them to succeed in their future. I am currently in my 14th year of teaching middle school science, but I am always looking to implement new techniques into my curriculum to engage students for science.
Science has the ability to excite and amaze students.
When students are engaged in a hands-on activity, they are learning without even realizing it! In my inner-city classroom, students of all cultures, creeds, and backgrounds meet a common goal.
A typical day in my classroom involves my students learning science while working together to solve problems. Many express a desire to work in a STEM career, and nothing makes me happier than continuing to expand my skills and knowledge so that I can support my students in their growth.
I am seeking funding to attend Project GUTS through the Pathfinders Summer Institute. The Pathfinders Summer Institute will continue to build on my passion for science, creativity, and hands-on involvement in the middle school classroom. This program integrates computational thinking with programming with creative ways to teach hands-on Science. The Pathfinder Institute has just the right program for meeting this goal and is offering a complete training opportunity this summer.
Your donation would not only help me become a more effective teacher but would assist me in providing opportunities for my students that they may not gain otherwise.
Having these invaluable resources and the knowledge of implementation would help inspire my students to pursue a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) education and potential careers that they may not be exposed to in their own communities or homes.
