My students need a Lead iPad so that they can learn how to use iPad technology and an Apple TV to sync step-by-step math demonstrations and collaborative iPad work on the SmartBoard.
Every day my students work very hard! They work hard in my Algebra 2 classroom to master advanced algebraic skills and they work hard at home to overcome the setbacks they and our community suffered during Hurricane Harvey. Many of my students are still putting their lives back together, 9 months post-storm, while living in gutted homes or in homes with nearby family. However, my students never use their current situation as an excuse or as a reason to complain. They show up every day ready to work! In the future when they look back on this year, I hope they don't remember what they have lost but rather what they have gained. They have gained character in the midst of their trials - the ability to persevere with grace. A lesson learned way too young for these students but one that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
My Project
My students recently received a generous grant to be used towards the purchase of student iPads.
My students need a Lead iPad for step-by-step demonstrations on how to use iPad technology and Apple TV so that they can see the demonstrations on the SmartBoard and sync their iPads together for collaboration!
The Lead iPad will allow my students to learn how to use algebraic apps, which focus on real-world applications, and the TI-Inspire Calculator app will provides computational power. Once they learn these skills, the Lead iPad and Apple TV will sync our iPads and allow them to directly share their work - transformed functions, real-world examples, worked out solutions, etc - with the class on the SmartBoard. Obtaining this technology equipment would provide my students with a comprehensive experience that will bridge the learning gap for STEM!
