Brewing Up Opportunities: Not Just a School Coffee Cart
Help me give my students a coffee maker and coffee accessories, a storage unit, and a cash box for the materials they need to help promote life skills, customer service skills and math skills needed in the work force.
Our students are a diverse group of pre-teen and adolescent learners with intellectual and developmental exceptionalities and fantastic personalities!. They are an enthusiastic, empathetic, bright, and bold group of very cool kiddos. Their classrooms are full of energy, creativity, love, friendship and a deep desire to be successful.
Our students have a wide range of strengths and abilities, the biggest hearts and the deepest determination.
But they all have in common the need to build their social and communication skills through real-world experiences. We believe in experience-based learning and hands-on lessons! We want our students to get practical experiences while in school that will motivate and educate them.
My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! Students will use the materials to create their own coffee shop cart, Junior Raider Joe's! They will be selling coffee and tea to the staff members at our school. Students will independently fill orders by using these materials and delivering them to the staff members. Students will learn skills such as following directions, sequencing, counting money, social communication, customer service, task completion, and teamwork!
This project will support students educationally through teaching them academic skills, as well as teaching them valuable life skills that will prepare them for life outside of school.
We want our students to be seen as contributing, capable, and competent members of our school community, as well as to experience success as a team. We want learning to be fun, but also functional! This project will help give these students and teachers an experience they will forever remember.
