Help me give my students a life skill that they can use for the rest of their lives! My students will use the coffee, creamer, and cups to help start a coffee cart at our school.
I teach 14-18 year olds with a variety of intellectual, physical, and sensory impairments in our high school's classroom for students with autism. Each one of my students have a unique learning style. All of my students are working on life skills to help them transition to life after school is done!
Our building is considered a Title I school, which means most of our students are considered "at-risk,” my students work hard and are engaged in their learning despite difficulties they face due to their disabilities.
We work with each student individually to help them prepare for life after school ends.
My Project
The materials in this project will be used during life skills class. A “life skill” is a skill that is a necessary, every day skill that a person needs to get through life. My students need life skills to help them transition into life after school is over. My hope is that the skills my students learn through running a coffee cart may be skills that they can use in their adult lives.
The life skills we practice with our Coffee Cart include following a recipe, sequencing steps in an activity, fulfilling an order, appropriate social skills, sharing, peer-peer work, basic number recognition, reading and comprehension, health and hygiene, and so much more.
The materials for this project will help my students to be able to start a coffee cart at our school.
