Breathe In, Breathe Out….Creating a Calming Area in Our Classroom.

Help me give my students materials such as a kids sofa, feelings pocket chart, sensory tubes, breathing posters, a mirror, and other materials to create a calm-down area for our classroom.

My Project

Learning how to handle big emotions is a daily task in Pre-K. Students at ages 4 and 5 have trouble expressing with words how they feel and we want to help them learn to communicate those with words rather than actions. We want all of our students to know that all emotions are ok to feel, it is how we express them that matters.

In order to accomplish this task we want to set up a calm-down area in our classroom.

We want to offer students several options to help them calm down. A sofa for students to have a comfy place to sit, breathing posters, sensory tubes, a visual timer to help us breath, sensory mazes, a check in chart for our feelings, and pictures of emotions. Once students are successful with their social-emotional skills they will be successful in their academics as well!
