My students are vibrant young learners deserving of the best education possible. I teach at a Title I school where the majority of students come from low-income single parent homes. Over 67% of students are on free or reduced-price lunches. Each of my students has the potential to do great things in their lives.
My goal is to provide my students with all the necessary tools they need to become life-long learners while exhibiting the 3 Ls: Love, Laughter, and Learning!
I want my students to walk into my classroom every day with the expectation that this day will be even better than the day before. I want to open up their minds to the gigantic world outside of our tiny community.
My Project
Visualize yourself sitting in a very small classroom crowded with third-grade students. You're so excited to get your day started. Can you picture it? Good! Now, in the same room with the same students, Forgetful Frank coughs without covering his mouth, you've only reminded him about a thousand times! Can you see the germs shooting out of his mouth like they are on a mission? Gross! Moments later Snoty Salley sneezes! Wouldn't you know it she didn't make it into her elbow in time? There goes the germs B team on their own mission. Still with me? Here's the worst part! You see it coming but there is nothing you can do. Team Germ scores as they land on Tired Teddy's tongue during one of his infamous yawns. Yuck! Watch all the other germs land on things all over the room. The pencil that Patrick is chewing on, the top of the tables, YOUR WHISTLE! Grossed out yet? Good! Welcome to everyday life in every classroom in every school. That is why I am requesting your help to clean up the contaminated environment called my classroom.
