My Project

I want to help all students at my school site, my community, and train other staff members on the importance of social emotional wellness, mindfulness, and yoga. I work at a Title-One school site in a socioeconomically disadvantaged community. Most of the students at my school are second language learners and many of them are refugees. By attending this training, I will become an official Social Emotional Wellness Facilitator and I can spread my knowledge and help children to be happier, healthier, and have positive growth mindset. In addition, it will be my goal to lead wellness workshops to enhance the overall community by teaching the importance of developing positive mindfulness strategies, and strong social emotional foundation amongst all.

Program Description:

Our community-focused trainings are specifically designed to support educators in transforming

themselves, their relationships, and their communities. Together, we study powerful mind-body wellness

practices like yoga/mindful movement, mindfulness, and breathwork - and learn self-care, social-emotional learning, and community building strategies that positively impact our lives, classrooms

and schools.

Breathe For Change’s training empowers educators and community leaders as champions of well-being

in their lives, classrooms, and communities. This training will teach educators the foundations of yoga and

mindfulness practices, and prepare them to meet the social-emotional needs of young people and adults.

Trainees receive mentorship from experienced yoga practitioners and educators to enhance their ability to

facilitate social-emotional learning practices, teach yoga, and use wellness as a vehicle for healing and

learning.
