My Students

I teach 32 incredible fifth grade students this year. They are enthusiastic learners and creative problem-solvers. My classroom has a wonderful diversity of students. They each have strengths and talents, as well as areas that are difficult for them. Together we are learning and growing.

As my students prepare to leave elementary and progress with their education, cultivating collaborative skills and perserverance is essential.

It is so important to me that my students learn how to stick with hard tasks, press into challenges, and work together to solve difficulties.

My Project

When I borrowed BreakoutEDU kits from our local high school, I saw firsthand the power of bringing the "breakout room" experience to solving academic puzzles. My students were incredibly engaged with difficult work. It was so fulfilling to watch them support each other and practice working together.

I want to bring this kind of exciting learning experience to my classroom far more frequently than would be possible with borrowed kits.

Having three kits in our classroom will facilitate more engaging experiences for my students and better learning outcomes across the board.

We would of course share our kits with the other fifth grade classrooms in our building, multiplying the impact of this project to nearly 90 students! What works well for us will be shared with these students also.
