Breakout of Boring... and Into a Love of Learning!
Help me give my students the opportunities to work together as they solve math, science, and reading problems to breakout of the traditional learning environment and step into a world where they love learning with these breakout kits!
The students that walk through my door each morning are some of the most exciting, inspiring, eager and curious children you could ever meet. They brighten my world and teach me so much as I aspire to educate them. Even though I teach in a small town in Mississippi, my students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, experiences, and cultures. Our school community is largely comprised of transient military families as well as ELL (English Language Learner) students. Our school is a Title I school with over half of the students eligible and/or receiving free or reduced priced lunch. While the students come from many walks of life, they come together in the classroom to learn as one family... our classroom family.
"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn!" The Breakout EDU boxes I'm looking to provide for my students pair with math, reading, grammar, science, and social studies activities. They bring students together and help them meet their potential for truly engaged learning. Students utilize key communication and problem solving skills to solve problems that eventually lead them to breakout of the box and feel the empowerment that comes with taking responsibility for their learning.
In addition to the grade level skills practiced and mastered throughout the Breakout EDU process, students also have the opportunity to utilize the ever important communication and thinking endurance skills such as trial and error, failure and recovery, compromising, listening, speaking clearly, and many more team building skills that build stamina and confidence so these kiddos are ready to take on the world.
