Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is full of determined learners, that want to succeed in their education. Our school is a Title I school, but my class doesn't let that hold them back. We spend a lot of time instilling positive mindsets in our students and they know that anything is possible!
We are integrating a more technology rich environment and preparing them to be successful.
To see the pride and accomplishment on their faces is heartwarming. As a teacher, I am so proud of their desire to be the best students they can be.
My Project
In my STEAM classroom, my students need to be challenged. I love to find creative ways to foster their learning. My students love puzzles, riddles and games. So why not incorporate all of these things into a Lockbox Challenge? Students must work in groups to solve problems, riddles, questions or clues that are a review of the classroom curriculum, to get the 'keys' to the 6 locks. Once all of the keys are used, the box will open to reveal their prize.
I find that the challenge has helped to motivate even my more difficult students.
Every students has the ability to help solve for the 6 different 'keys'.
