My students need locks and boxes for Breakout EDU. These items create 2 complete kits for NUMEROUS projects. Students would complete puzzles and clues to get the boxes unlocked, like an escape room!
My students are all learning to become independent learners. They are eager to learn, love to ask questions, and enjoy class (so they say). Some students struggle with attention issues and homework completion, so I try to work with them as much as possible in class, on assignments.
My lovely students are Nebraska 7th graders, from a semi-small town, outside of the capital city.
They love music and videos that I show with my lessons, and we are learning how to become critical thinkers and problem solvers! One way to be a critical thinker and problem solver is to incorporate games in with instruction!
My Project
Breakout EDU is getting more attention all the time. I borrowed a coworkers breakout boxes to play a "game" with my students. The language arts department, this year, designed a breakout game about the background knowledge of the Vietnam War. The students loved it! They are constantly asking, "Do we get to do another breakout soon?" Since I don't have my own set of breakout boxes, I have to tell them that we won't have any more this year.
Gaming and competition make education fun, so students learn without even realizing it!
This project would give me two breakout box kits to use with students forever! There are so many options for breakout games, from small ones to more established ones that require more time. My students have done breakouts in the past, and are ALWAYS ready for another one. With my own kits, I'd be able to develop breakout games for my students this year AND in years to come. This will never go out of style or wear out!
In addition, students learn a ton! Besides learning about the subject matter, (I teach Language Arts), students learn critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills when completing these breakouts!
