Breakout Boxes For Curriculum Content And Collaboration
My students need a creative, challenging way to study curriculum content and engage in teamwork by working on clues that lead students to unique codes to unlock a break out box.
Questions lead to interesting hypotheses by my 5th grade science students in Michigan. We strive to explore, question and use our critical thinking strategies while relying on each other to help further our learning. For in today's world, our greatest resource is one another. Help us explore our world and challenge ourselves to discover not only content, but the greatness of teamwork!
My class is a hands-on learning experience for all the 5th grade students.
I teach multiple sections of science and therefore, I am able to promote learning of our natural world throughout the grade level. These 5th graders are enthusiastic learners and love different methods of exploring their world.
My Project
This project will provide an engaging method to explore curriculum while promoting collaboration and critical thinking. The great thing about this, is my class can use this strategy for learning across the curriculum. It will continue to challenge students to thing outside of the box and to value all input. I look forward to seeing the results!
The way these boxes work is that I can set the locks to a certain combination that students will then have clues related to an area of study to solve collaboratively.
Once they solve the clues correctly, they can then unlock the box. However, they must solve many clues before the ultimate prize, the breakout box can be unlocked.
