Breaking the Mold in Round Table

My students need a Breakout Edu kit to develop unity in our Roundtable. I believe that through incorporating hands-on project-based learning students will be more engaged in this class that is meant to develop leadership skills.

My Students

Most of my students are from an urban area. They have chosen to attend our public charter school, to be a part of a school whose mission surrounds leadership, rhetoric, entrepreneurship, and debate, in a classical model, with twenty-first-century skills.

Our school receives one-third of the funding of traditional public schools in our area from the state.

This creates an economic hardship for our school. As a result, we have a challenging time acquiring materials to support advancing our curriculum for our students.

My Project

This will make a difference by giving our Roundtable the materials to run breakout activities in my class. Other Roundtables have had success with this sort of activity and I would love to create a similar experience for my students.

Long-term the goal would be to create my own breakout activities using the kit that aligns with the school's mission and vision to customize the learning experience.

Through hands-on activities, students are more engaged in the learning process. These activities can include both unplugged and digital experiences to solve the problem presented to students. The roundtable students are excited to have this experience come to our class.
