I am a kindergarten teacher at a school with a diverse population. We serve middle-class students, military students, and low-income families. No matter the background, my students come to school ready to learn. They love to learn new things, they love to read, and they love to explore. It is my job to make sure this zest for learning never dies.
My superheroes have encouraged me to grow as a teacher!
They continually surprise me, on a daily basis, with their ability to learn and grasp concepts! I wouldn't change my job in a million years! My students leave an imprint on my heart, for they are kind, affectionate, and loving!
My students need the two Lenovo Chromebooks in order to utilize the Reading and Phonics programs purchased by our school specifically for kindergarten. The Reading program, Kids-A-to-Z, allows my children to read books on their reading level. The program allows them to read into a microphone and playback what they have read. It helps them with fluency, which is imperative for kindergarteners to be a successful reader. My students also have a phonics program, Headsprouts, which helps them get a strong foundation in phonics--blending, segmenting, and decoding words. This programs helps them with reading fluently as well.
In kindergarten, it is imperative that children receive a firm foundation in reading that will carry them throughout their academic career, and the chromebooks will help strengthen that foundation.
We have been blessed to be able to go to the computer lab to work on these programs, however, the chromebooks would allow me to utilize these programs within the classroom more regularly. I would be able to put my students on the chromebooks during literacy centers and during remediation time. Because these programs are so important to my students' success, my goal is to be 1 to 1 in the classroom. With the help of DonorsChoose.org, I can make that possible! Please help me break the achievement gap by donating to a worthy project! Thank you for your support!
