Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 6th graders are faced with many challenges inside and outside of the classroom coming from a mixed-income district. Despite the many challenges they face in their lives, they always enter my classroom eager to learn.
On a daily basis, I try to create and execute meaningful, creative, fun and differentiated student-based activities in the classroom.
Research has shown that when you provide your students with an uncommon experience, they will rise to the challenge and meet with you the effort your are seeking.
My Project
After being inspired by professional development, I'm committed to putting my students to the challenge. I want my students to feel the rush while immersed in the breakout process and the gratifying sense of accomplishment when breaking free. This is exactly some of the engagement opportunities that they need.
If my students were able to use their critical thinking skills, along with their communication and teamwork abilities, this would be incredible!
With the resources (Lock Padlock and Storage Box) combined, my students will engage in a puzzle-solving environment that encourages them to work together to "breakout" of the box. This will also teach students how to rise from failure. Every attempt might not result in a success, they have to learn to try many times, reinforcing the concept of growth mindset.
With your donation, my students will not only be reinforcing educational material, but social and emotional skills that will benefit them throughout their lives!
