Breaking Out the Digital Tools to Meet Diverse Learners' Needs!
Help me give my students these incredible digital resources. The 3 items I'm asking for include, Breakout EDU, Nearpod Platinum, and Listenwise Premium. I would be so thrilled to have these interactive, curriculum based resources.
Our elementary school is an urban school in Salt Lake City with a socioeconomically and racially diverse population of students, pre-k through sixth grade. Over of Washington Stars are from low socioeconomic backgrounds, nearly 20% are English Language Learners and close to 60% are ethnic minorities. Many students lack extracurricular enrichment opportunities but this does not restrict their enthusiasm for learning.
As students say each day in the school greeting: "Washington Stars are persons of value!" Value means: Vision, Academic Attitude, Love of Learning, Understanding, and Excited to be here!
We want to be sure our students know that anything is possible and we are here to support and guide them on their learning journey.
My Project
First of all, I have always wanted to purchase Breakout EDU. It is such a fun way to teach students to problem solve together. The activities are kind of like an educational escape room where students have to really think critically to solve the clues and puzzles provided.
These amazing resources will enable me to create well-rounded lessons that focus on the 4 C's; Critical thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, and Communication.
In addition, since I am the librarian and teach grades pre-k through 6th, I thought it would be incredible to have access to audiobooks through Listenwise, that have lessons and activities to go along with them! What a great way to take a screen break and practice listening skills.
Finally, the last resource I'm asking for is Nearpod Platinum. Nearpod is a fantastic tool that I use both online and in-person. I can create really engaging lessons that the students love. By getting Nearpod Platinum I will have additional storage and bonus features that will make my lessons that much better!
