Help me give my students an engaging and fun way to review key concepts and practice skills by using Escape Room activities. The different types of padlocks and the coded messages in the lights will keep them engaged.
The students who come in and out of my classroom on a daily basis come from a mostly low-income/high-poverty background. They often do not have a stable home life, a place to know they are welcomed, loved, and appreciated. Despite the difficulties these students face on a daily basis, I want to create an environment where they feel they have some control, inspiration, and support.
My students are fun, adventurous, intelligent, and inspiring.
I cannot control their lives outside of the school day, but I can give them an environment where they feel safe, cared about, welcomed, and comfortable. I want the very best for my students and I want to have a positive impact on their learning and help inspire them to reach for the stars.
My Project
My students are curious and active. Escape rooms challenge them in engaging ways, but we lack a variety of padlocks, UV markers, and programmable lights that messages can be programmed into for students to figure out the clues.
Engaging Learners in relevant and fun review activities means breaking out of the usual mundane routines and challenging students to think smarter.
My students have enjoyed the paper/pencil escape rooms, but I know they would love real escape rooms.
The programmable lights and the messages to be decoded, the different types of locks (directional, word locks, and digit locks) will add depth and complexity to our learning as well as promote collaboration.
