My students need the two Breakout kits to interrupt the monotonous grammar lessons. Using Breakouts will allow them to think critically, collaborate, and work with the required standards.

My Students
I teach the world's next Angelou, Patterson, Russell, Meyer and Pastis. They just don't know it yet! I know that if I raise prolific readers they will become prolific writers! Along with the other staff, I work to create a nurturing and encouraging environment which teaches students to become critical and creative thinkers, active problem solvers, effective communicators, and contributing citizens. One of our school's goals is for 8th graders to pass the reading and writing SOLs or have them reach grade level.
My Project
Testing season is upon us and in an effort to break up the monotony of our day-to- day lessons, I want my students to BREAKOUT of GRAMMAR. These lessons will build a level of excitement and confidence that I need my students to have as they enter test time. With the Breakout kits I will be able to watch my students work on their peer-to-peer relationships while working to solve exciting problems. I will be able to customize each Breakout session to focus on different Virginia standards that will be covered on the SOL. Using the BREAKOUT kits will definitely make my students excited to come to class.
