Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
After 21 years of teaching, it is a joy to come to work everyday and see the shining faces of my 24 students. My students are inquisitive and motivated by the new things they take in daily. They enjoy solving problems and being creative thinkers.
We are a Title I K-1 primary school with a high percentage of second language learners.
We are a low income community with limited resources. Most of our students qualify for free/reduced lunch.
Our students love being at school and greet our teachers with smiles and hugs every morning. Even though many of them face hardships at home, they strive to do their best at school.
My Project
My first graders need engaging collaborative challenges to discover their full potential and develop their growth mindset. Breakout EDU games teach critical thinking, teamwork, complex problem solving, and can be used in all content areas. Breakout Edu is a fantastic tool to engage all of my students in working together, solving puzzles, codes, and tapping into all types of learning for my students
As a teacher, I am always looking for new and innovative ways for my students to work together to solve problems.
Breakout EDU kits allow students to communicate and think critically and creatively to solve problems presented by their teacher.
Learning through active play, having a growth mindset to solve puzzles through teamwork, synthesizing knowledge, and critical thinking are a few of the hallmarks of Breakout EDU games. The games, similar to adult escape-room mysteries, entice students to put their learning to use in "real-world" situations. Students must work together if they are to decipher riddles, unravel puzzles, break codes, find hidden clues, and persevere in solving complex problems. Can they do it in the allotted time? They will have to think outside the box to open all the different locks and discover solutions to the puzzles.
