This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Almost all of my students live in poverty. They come to school with a smile everyday when most people would give up. My students have a desire to do well and they want to succeed in school. None of my students come into my class and say, "I don't want to learn today."
I am doing all that I can to help my students not become a statistic.
However, the current statistics show that African American, Hispanic and low-income students enter fourth grade two years behind. By the time they reach twelfth grade, they are four years behind. Since all of my students are African American and most of them are low-income, this gap my be even greater.
My Project
We need a tablet to record video, microphones to catch the sound and a green screen to edit our videos and apply backgrounds. The possibilities are endless with the ability to record videos. Our students would be able to see who is talking to them everyday and for that moment, they are the stars. Our students listen to daily morning announcements but it is hard to pay attention when there is nothing to see. This project will all our students to see and hear our daily announcements. This will give all of our students the opportunity to show their fellow classmates how talented they are. Students who deliver the message and the students (and teachers) listening to the morning announcements will be more engaged. It is a win win for everyone involved.
