I teach 2nd grade students at a rural K-8 school in North Carolina.
I will do whatever it takes to provide a solid education for my students so that they can be productive citizens in the 21st century.
We are a Title I school so, my students come from very different socioeconomic backgrounds. I want to be able to provide experiences that they can all share together, no matter what their background may be. I want to make school an enjoyable place where students love to learn!
Good readers need a balance of fiction and non-fiction text to read. Students also need to be able to read and comprehend real-life news examples. I also want my students to be aware of the worldly events happening around them.
We need Scholastic Magazine for non-fiction text and real-word news examples.
We also need a class set of clipboards in order to complete our work independently, in a comfortable spot in our classroom. We will use the two together in reading stations during our Literacy block as well as tying in some of the articles to our science and social studies curriculum.
