Breaking into Better Collaboration and Thinking in the Classroom
My students need Breakout EDU boxes to foster hands-on learning, solve critical thinking puzzles, and to communicate ideas effectively as they solve and interpret solutions.

My Students
My students are an amazing group of 6th graders. Each year my goal is to meet the needs of all 150 diverse learners in my classroom. My students come from a wide range of social and economic households. I have several students who speak multiple languages.
Although the students are diverse, they are all 11-12 years old that have the same needs: to be able to learn, grow and flourish in my science classroom and become productive members of society in the future.
My Project
In order to get as many students engaged in my classroom as possible, I am requesting 2 more breakout boxes to be able to form teams that compete against one another to "breakout" first. I will create various STEAM challenges to go along with the boxes that once solved will reveal codes to eventually "breakout" of the game boxes.
These breakout boxes create an environment for teamwork and collaboration without students even realizing how many skills they are learning.
Breakout boxes will be utilized throughout the year and the games and STEAM activities that accompany them will be altered to change along with the content we are studying.
