Help me give my students a new way of learning with virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR).

My social studies class is filled with not just students, but junior investigators who are not afraid to speak their minds and convey their thoughts. It is my job to cultivate these characteristics into strong critical thinking skills. In order to do that, I often require my investigators to inquire about our lessons rather than to simply learn about the lessons. What could be considered surprising is that these students live in an area that has an abundance of federal and state assistance. However, their environments do not shape their minds: their thirst for knowledge and understanding pushes them to be better every day.
I teach my classes of junior investigators how to use primary sources to find the truth of the information uncovered throughout the year.
In my social studies class, students are not given random facts and ideas from other people, but they are given the skills that allow them to inquire, investigate, and research. By the end of the year, my students have not only gained knowledge of content, but they have obtained life long skills that they can use on their continued path of success.
My investigators crave different avenues of learning. They often spend class time in differentiated groups, completing collaborative hands on activities, and working through station activities. Stations are there favorite because it allows them to work through different activities that range from analytical work, experiments, and role play.
The Google Expedition Kit will give my investigators a new opportunity to learn as well as add a new and innovative station within the classroom.
With this resource, my investigators will be able to leave the walls of the school and observe the lands that we discuss throughout the year. They will be able to experience and interact with the parts of the world that we discuss throughout the year. This kit will not only engage my investigators, but spark a deeper interest in the societies and cultures around the world.
