Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are energetic, eager to learn, and fun-loving. Despite some tough situations some of my students face at home, they come in everyday really giving it their all. Our school is 100% free breakfast and lunch. Coming from an urban district and a Title I school, unfortunately my students do not have as many supplies and opportunities as the surrounding districts.
The need for imagination, as a sense of truth, and as a feeling of responsibility — these are the three forces which are the very nerve of education.

For this reason, I work extra hard to raise money for supplies that will be used by my students. These supplies benefit my students in so many ways, and it also teaches them a deeper lesson of how good the world can be. Over the years when I have told my students that we have gotten a project funded and we were getting supplies, the looks on their faces were priceless. My students are so appreciative, and donations from kind-hearted people really impact their lives in such a major way!
My Project
Many mornings, students enter the building frazzled. They have been rushed to school, are running late, and miss breakfast at home and at school. Often times, they begin the morning crying, complaining, putting their heads down, or just being sad because of the way their day started.
In our school, we provide students with something to eat so that they can refocus their energy on school instead of being focused on hunger.
This project would really help us in providing this essential resource to our students. They simply cannot learn if they are hungry. A simple Pop-Tart can turn a student’s day around!
