This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in our school work hard to shine to the best of their abilities. Sadly, some do not get the support needed at home, and as a result, they struggle with grade-level work, which can lead them to be one or more grade levels behind. Unfortunately, our school doesn't always have the means necessary to supply them with an excess of materials that greatly benefit them. As a Title I school in an urban area, our funds can be limited, especially now due to COVID-19. Access to books to read at home can be difficult at times. My 3rd graders work hard and aim to please, and they deserve access to things that will help them be successful learners.

Even though they are faced with many obstacles at such an early age, my students try their best to overcome their hardships with a positive mindset.

My Project

Since coming back fully in person after being remote, my students are eating breakfast and lunch in their classroom. Our breakfast options were cut down to a simple bagged breakfast. Students only have limited options due to limited access. I would like to give them the option to choose something different other than a bagel or yogurt with milk. Giving them the option to choose cereal or an apple sauce pack will be great for adding variety.

Due to Covid-19, our water fountains were covered.

Some students forget to bring water bottles and the school is limited with the bottles we can distribute to every student in our school. These cases of water will give my students access to water during their school day.
