Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a large and diverse public high school in San Bernardino County. This is my third year teaching, but my first year teaching at this school and I have been inspired, awed, and motivated by the diverse population I have gotten the honor to get to know.
My students come from a wide variety of different cultures, socioeconomic status, and living situations.
Many students struggle to get to school regularly or getting the supplies they need. I have made it my mission to build a positive, safe, and supportive classroom environment where students can grow and experience new opportunities and challenges. I love my students and would do anything to help them in their growth.
My Project
These kits from BreakOut EDU allow teachers to create fun and interactive lessons for students. I hated history in high school. I thought it was boring and all we ever did was memorize names and dates that I would forget as soon as we took the test. My goal as a teacher has been to undo that for students.
I want to create rich and engaging experiences that students will remember long after they leave my classroom.
I want to make history fun for them so they can really see how important it is. The materials from BreakOut EDU will help me in creating those types of experiences for my students!
