My students are so excited to come into class each day for hands-on learning experiences. They are five or six years old, but they know how important school is! They know what their jobs are and work hard to accomplish anything I ask of them. I teach them to be in charge of themselves and their learning by empowering them to make good choices every day.
My learners know that they are in charge of their learning.
They can't wait to show what they know in a variety of ways with the resources available to them at school. However, many of the students at our school come from low-income families. We have a high free/reduced-price lunch population and have a weekend food backpack program that serves many of these children each school year.
My Project
These new books will help create and enhance a print-rich classroom for new readers. In lower primary, students listen to, look at, and read several books per day. These titles will foster a love for reading for my learners!
By offering a diverse selection of titles for my students, they will be able to have several more options for listening to, looking at, and reading independently.
I will have available several new read alouds to enhance student learning, but also be able to provide many new titles for our classroom library and bookshelves. My hope is that students will spend even more time loving books than they already do!
Thank you for considering donating the gift of literacy to my students.
