Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My third grade students are active and engaged learners. They really enjoy being challenged and solving problems. I recently learned that I will be "looping" with my students, which means I will be going to fourth grade with them next fall. I am excited to see the changes from third grade to fourth grade with my class. We will be able to build upon the community we have started this year.
I teach in a diverse, urban neighborhood school where many students are learning how to be safe and respected.
My school is a Title I school and every student receives free breakfast and lunch daily. Many students come from families that cannot provide all the essentials for back to school. My students love to read and have been challenging themselves to read chapter books. I am looking to restock my library for next school year to provide new and interesting books for the kids. Please consider making a donation and putting brand new books in my students' hands!
My Project
My students enjoy reading and have such wonderful independent readers this past school year. Chapter books are all the rage in the classroom. Kids are "challenging" themselves to read more chapter books. Unfortunately, I do not have enough chapter books to fill everyone's book box. I am hoping to add new and interesting books to the classroom library for next year. Currently they are really into the Magic Tree House series. Some of my students are waiting for friends to finish reading so that they can borrow the book themselves! I also want to add more culturally diverse books into the library that better reflect my students. My students and I will be thrilled to have more selection in the classroom library.
