Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our Language Arts and Social Justice Magnet School emphasizes the respect of self and others. This encompasses discipline and high expectations as well as activism and compassion. The kids know they will be Agents of Change and follow our school motto, "Be the change you want to see in the world." - Mahatma Ghandi
We are classified as a "highest poverty" school and the kids at our school are brilliant.
They deserve excellent educational resources. Although my kids may lack financial resources, they have an incredible work ethic and desire to learn. We are a full Title I school, a vast majority of our students qualify for free or reduced lunches.
Our students may lack the material privileges that other American children are fortunate to have, but they certainly make up for it with talent, fortitude, and sheer intelligence. We live in a world where our youth are simply not provided with enough quality resources to shine; your donation will make the dream of a bright future come true.
My Project
To bridge the achievement gap, we need to supply underprivileged schools with the same educational tools and strategies the others enjoy. BrainPOPJr is one of the strategies which high achieving schools are raving about when I attend professional workshops. I dream about offering it to my kids.
What is BrainPOPJr.?
It is a website that offers hundreds of animated movies plus related interactive quizzes, learning games, activities, and informational texts aligned to the Common Core and other academic standards. It covers topics within Science, Social Studies, English, Math, Arts and Music, Health, and Technology and Engineering. The high quality of the animations help students to be motivated and engaged in their learning. Some families may be able to afford the subscription at home; however, most of my students do not even own a computer. Your kind donation would enable my second graders to review and practice in class. With a BrainPOPJr. subscription, students would be eager to strengthen and deepen their understanding of the material presented in class; the struggling kids would be able to go over it multiple times and everyone would improve their skills with extra practice.
Your contribution would update the way my students learn and provide them with the opportunity to compete with wealthier schools. This would be a significant step in closing the achievement gap. Thank you in advance for making a genuine difference in the classroom!
