Celebrating Black History Month

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

For two and a half years, my classroom has been housed in a temporary building and we just moved to our building. Then we had to immediately go distance learning. My gifted students are struggling with managing their emotions in an appropriate manner.

My K-5 students, especially girls who are excited about MATH & SCIENCE are worried and anxious all the time.This pandemic should not limit their abilities or expectations.

They are well behaved, motivated, energetic and excited to learn. The majority of my students are girls and they come from low income households and qualify for free lunch.

Some of them have no support from family and therefore, it is even more imperative for me to find the necessary STEM resources like brain quest cards so they can be challenged. The constant movement to get online distance learning literacy supplies has wreaked havoc on everyone's nerves.

My students are distraught and need some positivity in their lives to create a good self-image and develop some self-confidence. They have set high goals for themselves, and I wish for them to excel in STEM subjects and choose high careers in Science, Math & Engineering.

My Project

I am requesting Brain-quest cards and books as they reinforce what kids are learning during distance learning in an instantly engaging, entertaining way. Brain-quest is jam-packed with hands-on activities and games covering math vocabulary, time and money, science, and much, much more--with friendly illustrations throughout.

A majority of my girls who feel anxious about distance learning will benefit as they will be totally engaged and excited about learning to solve challenging questions.

Aligned with Common Core State Standards for STEM subjects and expertly vetted by award-winning teachers, brain-quest cards are designed to appeal to kids' natural curiosity, with interactive layouts and easy-to-follow explanations that take the intimidation out of learning. Plus, it's written to help parents follow along and explain key concepts ! With colorful stickers, a fold-out poster, award certificate, and Brain Quest Mini Decks to go along for quizzes. My parents are on board to help my girls succeed and gain confidence!
