Do you remember your favorite subject in school? Your teacher probably made it so much fun you forgot you were even learning. That is my goal for EVERY subject in my third grade class. With the help of my BrainPOP Jr. friend Mia and Moby, my students are sure to have a blast and learn a lot too!
Students in my 3rd grade classroom are kind, caring, and doing the best they can with a bad situation.
With a district cutting budgets to help with a deficit, supplies are scarce and buying new technology has been hard to do. We have had to get creative with our teaching to ensure the students get the best education possible. Although the situation may seem dim, the students have shinning attitudes and are working hard to excel.
My Project
One of the biggest challenges I face as an educator is student engagement. This generation of students has grown up in the "digital age", which means things that have been used in the past to engage them are no longer working. Students crave the use of technology in the classroom, but sometimes this technology is expensive and out of reach. A subscription to BrainPop Jr, would allow me to teach science concepts with short, interactive video clips, online quizzes, training modules, online writing prompts, and educational games. BrainPop Jr. uses humor and current topics to hook the students' interest and apply them to all subject areas to help them better understand the topic at hand. With hundreds of videos, BrainPop would be an excellent resource for my classroom.
