Do you remember listening to boring lectures about new concepts in school? Brain Pop will motivate my students to listen and learn!
Our classroom is a third and forth grade blended learning community in a diverse district in Ohio.
We embrace nontraditional learning methods and project based learning. My students love reading and researching. They soak up learning opportunities and are a joy to teach!
My Project
Brain Pop is a web site that includes short animated videos about a range of topics. The videos cover math, language arts, science, history, technology, engineering, arts and music. The main characters, Tim and Moby, use humor and simple terms to explain complex topics. Kids absolutely love it! It is a great way to introduce a new concept or review something learned previously. In the past, my school district was able to purchase Brain Pop for us to use. Just like many districts in Ohio, we have had to cut and cut funding for extras. I know Brain Pop is a wonderful resource that kids find interesting. I have even found students watching the movies and taking the quizzes just for fun. It would be a huge blessing if we were able to have access to this resource for another school year. The kids will appreciate it and so will I! Thanks so much!
Research shows students learn most in short bursts of information that is relevant to their lives.
Also, in this day and age, students are used to being entertained, and that can be challenging for teachers. Brain Pop is a great way to teach standards and have some fun at the same time!
