This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach students from all around the world. They are in Kindergarten through 8th Grade in Buffalo, NY. All are English Language Learners, most of whom are refugees. In addition, they are students with limited or interrupted formal education (SLIFE). Regardless of where they are from and what language(s) they speak, they are eager to learn and have a zest for life!
Our school has a very high population of students living in poverty.
It currently does not receive enough financial support to provide all of the necessary learning tools our students need to be successful. They have overcome so much in their young lives and I want to provide them with a strong educational foundation so they continue to succeed!
My Project
My students will have 24/7 access to Brain Pop Jr. and Brain Pop ESL to build their content knowledge and learn academic vocabulary so they can be successful in the classroom and in their lives!
My students need these programs so they can build language and knowledge even when they aren't in the classroom.
Several of my students have access to a device with internet access at home so they would put these subscriptions to good use!
Many parents have expressed needing materials to support their children's learning at home, and this would be a perfect way to support the parents to encourage learning around the clock!
