This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My middle school students are between childhood and adulthood. Too many of them struggle with leaving the child behind and becoming an adult. Peer pressure and social media compound the issue. At this tumultuous time in their lives, the last thing they need to struggle with is basic math computations.
They want to be successful in life, and they are searching for a route to success.
Will it be through academics? Or sports? Or special interest clubs? They are looking for their niche.
My Project
My students need visual examples of math in action. BrainPOP offers a solution through instructional videos, practice quizzes, interactive games, and more. Students are engaged because the videos are short and to the point, and the games are fun reminders of the concepts covered. They can watch the videos to learn new information, or review concepts previously taught. Closed captioning is available so that students can read along with the dialogue. The website is easy to navigate and simple to use. We have enjoyed using the free portions of the site so far, and are looking forward to utilizing all of the digital resources it offers.
