My students need highly interactive games that incorporate 4th grade content in a fun and engaging way. They will be able to apply their learning while fostering teambuilding and social skills with their peers.
“If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow.” – John Dewey
My students are highly motivated individuals who come from diverse backgrounds and experiences, but they are united over a desire to learn and make a difference in the world.
Each of them comes to school with a desire to do and become something amazing. I want to give them the tools to be successful and encourage them to grow to their highest potential, no matter what challenges they may face along the way. While our classroom has curriculum to support the students' learning, I strive to make learning as hands-on and interesting as possible. Therefore, I'd like to bring academic games to the classroom as a way to engage students in the learning process and support their social development while having fun!
My Project
For my students, having these games in class will mean having a different way to approach learning and skill application as they review content and solve challenges in an exciting format.
Games support both the academic learning needs of students, as well as helping to meet their social and emotional needs as they learn to work collaboratively and problem-solve.
In today's world, students who are good team players, effective communicators, and efficient problem-solvers will be useful assets to any career path they choose. As their teacher, I want my students to be successful in any path of life they choose and I know that each activity and game planned along the way helps to make my students' dreams and goals a reality.
