Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our school is in a rural minority community. Lots of our students have big dreams but don't have access to enough opportunities to unlock their true potential.

While our funds and resources are limited, our students' potential and drive are certainly not.

Students are eager to see real-world applications of what they are learning in school that extend beyond the town limits that have confined many of their parents. Many of our students strive to be first-generation college, if not high school graduates.

My Project

Students often come to class unable to focus because their stomachs are grumbling. The snacks they reach for by default usually are not the healthiest. I want to give them access to healthy nutritional snack options.

By feeding their stomachs, students are now able to focus on topics like quadratics and slope, as opposed to hunger.

Working as a teacher often we have to use our own funds for items such as snacks (and... cheap options are usually unfortunately not the healthiest.) Funding this project would allow me to give my students access to healthy nutritional options without breaking the bank.
