Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a wonderful group of 3rd graders on the west side of Indianapolis. My classroom is rich with diverse learners. My students are energetic, kind, and resilient. Despite challenging home lives, my students come to school eager to learn every day.
All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many of our students' parents work odd hours to provide for their children. However, no matter what is going on at home, they always do their best when they come to school.
My Project
This project will allow me to provide my students with healthy snacks throughout the school day. Many of my students do not have enough to eat at home. While they get free breakfast and lunch at school, sometimes it is not enough to fill their bellies. I want to do everything I can to make sure that my students are not insecure about where their next meal is coming from.
When students are full, they are able to concentrate on their school work.
I want my students to be their best selves at school, and having access to healthy snacks will help them achieve their goals.
