Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is one of thirty-two schools in a very large school district. Eighty-seven percent of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Many students at our school depend on school programs for food over the weekend and during the summer. Students also often are in need of academic and emotional support.
Our students are passionate and eager learners and need a way to stimulate brains during Alternative Method Instruction (AMI).
To aid in breaking the poverty cycle we need to provide student directed learning opportunities. Giving our students many experiences to get active and stimulate their brains with their families will strengthen our students away from school.
My Project
Our students need ways to have fun and stimulate their minds at home. Our students need board games and cards to use at home to increase family interaction. They need stimulating games to play when they are not doing Alternative Method of Instruction at home. Many of our students do not have interactive and stimulating modes of entertainment at home. These games will be delivered to our students in need. Our students are facing a world of uncertainties. They often rely on our school system for their most basic needs. I want all our students to have the tools they need to stay home and stay active.
