I teach an amazing group of first grade students! They are curious, bright and very active. We love challenges that go beyond paper and pencil activities.
The abilities among the students are varied but their imaginations and intuitions drive them to create in many ways.
My first grade students are enthusiastic and excited about learning. I have 22 eager and smiling faces that come through my door each day. My room is full of love, laughter and learning! Each child is an individual with unique needs and gifts.
My Project
Brain Bins are for students to use their hands and minds to create, construct and imagine. I am requesting items such as Magformers, Bristle Blocks, and Dado Squares in order to provide a multi-sensory creative experience.
Students need time and resources for unstructured and imaginative play.
They need opportunities to develop social skills and problem solving.
Students today are frequently assessed and the expectations are rigorous. Having Brain Bins to explore when they complete academic tasks will allow for their brains to grow in other ways. Their future employers will be looking for people that can think outside of the box, be creative and be able to solve problems in new ways. I am giving them an early start by providing time and resources to actively explore!
