We are a small rural school district. We work hard to provide opportunities for our students to access experiences they would not otherwise have. Our goal is to foster life long learning and help them be good, successful adults.
My students are caring, and work hard to overcome adversity.
They are interested in helping their community both in the classroom and in various after school programs. Character club is one such program that connects students in grades 7-12 with the community.
My Project
My students will create bracelets with inspirational words to create a sense of hope and community. One of our district goals is to create a feeling of kindness and belonging among our students. We have focused on anti-bullying and instead want to provide our students a way to let each other know that they matter.
Character club would like to make wearable reminders that students should be kind to one another and make the school a safe, welcoming, and friendly place to be.
Character club will work with our Relay for Life team, created for the 3 students that we have lost to cancer, to also spread the feeling of hope for an end to cancer. Students will use the metal stamps to inscribe inspirational words, like “hope”, or “friends”, or “kindness” into the stamping blanks with the hammer. The string will be tied around the disks to create bracelts with good character traits to remind students that there is caring and hope in the world.
