Have you ever learned to play an instrument? When you are a beginner on an instrument, it is extremely important to have good functioning equipment. My cello and bass players need new bows so they can continue to improve their technique and tone!
The students in my school are there because they love orchestra, and love playing their instrument.
They have to audition to attend the school, so the quality of musical talent is very high. Students range from beginners to those with 8 or more years of experience. 45% of them live in poverty, and most of them ride the bus to school. Because cellos and basses are such large instruments, and due to limited space on buses, students who play cello and bass use a school instrument and bow. These items are used by several students a day. Therefore, high quality equipment is necessary to withstand a lot of music making.
My Project
These carbon fiber bows will last a long time, therefore impacting many students throughout the years. Additionally, these bows will allow more advanced students to move forward with more advanced techniques on their instrument. Finally, beginner students will feel successful with every bow stroke, since they will have premium equipment!
Having this project funded will impact our entire orchestra program for now and for years to come.
These bows will remain in the classroom for use by any student who comes through the doors to learn to play the cello or bass!
